Hair Transplants: Are They Worth It?

For many people, hair loss comes with a severe blow to their self-esteem.

If you've ever thought about getting a hair transplant, you must be wondering if it's worth it.

The process is lengthy, arduous, and expensive, all of which can scare traditional patients away.

However, if you're facing hair loss that is in dire need of treatment, a hair transplant isn’t the only answer.

While hair transplants are widely used, that doesn't mean they are right for everyone.

You should always research the pros and cons of hair transplants before deciding to invest in the procedure.

This invasive procedure involves taking a strip of hair from the back of the head and then placing it on the scalp where the hair loss has occurred.

The real question is, are hair transplants worth it?

Given all the cost and effort, isn’t there a better alternative?

Before we dive into natural alternatives, let’s find out how hair transplants work and weigh the pros and cons.

Do Hair Transplants Work?

A transplant essentially takes hair from your body to an area where there is no hair.

It can be taken from the back of your head or from another part of your body.

The surgeon starts by sterilizing the area where the hair will be removed and numbs it with a local anesthetic.

It’s possible to ask for sedatives to stay asleep during the procedure.  The surgeon then performs either an FUT or FUE.

What is a Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)?

FUT is a widely used hair transplant procedure in which individual hair grafts are extracted from the donor area and then transplanted into recipient sites.

Each graft is carefully disassociated from each other using strict sterile processing techniques while maintaining their natural growth cycle.

In FUT, the hair is transplanted from the back and sides of your head.

The goal is to harvest a strip of hair extending down the back of your head, which gives you the permanent coverage that most people want.

This technique involves two separate procedures: A strip harvesting procedure where a long narrow strip of the scalp (and its hair) is removed, and then transplantation surgery is undergone.

What is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)?

FUE is a technique of transplanting individual hair follicles from the back and sides and moving them to another location on the back or top of the head.

FUE extractions are done one at a time, usually with small punches ranging in size from 1mm–3 mm in diameter, depending on how many hairs there are.

In some cases, many people who have undergone the procedure have reported that it is worth their time and money because they experience head fullness with little fuss or hassle.

However, many others find they have to undergo several hair transplants since they experience further hair loss.

Depending on the severity of your condition, you may be required to undergo several procedures.

How Much Do Hair Transplants Cost?

Hair transplants can range in price from $4,000 to $15,000 and are not covered by insurance.

The experience and availability of the surgeon all contribute to the final cost.

The extent of the transplant procedure and after-care medications along with potential additional surgeries will also add to the cost.

Hair Transplant Recovery and Side Effects

Recovery is a fairly quick process, after which the patient needs to take it easy for several days.

The scalp will likely be very tender, and the patient will need to avoid sunlight.

A topical antibiotic solution like bacitracin or Neosporin will be applied to the follicular units and then covered with a dressing that may be taped in place.

Most people can return to work after two to five days following the operation.

After two to three weeks, the transplanted hair falls out, but new growth should begin.

Hair Transplant Alternatives

There are many safer, more affordable, and effective options than hair transplants.

Hair transplant surgery is not for everyone, and if there are potential risks involved, it may be a good idea to first try one of the many other options.

For example, Aseir Custom's Auxano Grow V2 formula works to restore and promote natural hair growth.

It is a clinically proven formula that promotes healthy hair growth and thick, fuller-looking hair.

Our formula contains GHK-Cu and carbon 60, two ingredients that work together to promote increased blood flow and circulation to the scalp.

Both work together to promote hair growth by improving the health of the follicles in the scalp to to regenerate and regrow as the follicles increase in size.

Auxano Grow V2 also encourages cell reproduction while stimulating keratinization at the same time (i.e. the production of protective protein covering for each cell).

Not only that, but it also stimulates blood circulation in the roots of the hair follicles to promote healthy growth.

This product can be used as a daily treatment or once a week as needed to help treat your specific hair loss condition.

Our customers are using it for hair loss, thinning hair, and many other scalp conditions!

How Do GHK-Cu and Carbon 60 Help With Hair Growth?

The copper peptide GHK-Cu and carbon 60 are both natural elements that promote healthy skin cell regeneration.

Copper stimulates the blood flow to the scalp, which helps deliver oxygen and other nutrients throughout the scalp to stimulate hair growth in the follicles.

Copper also promotes keratinization (the production of protective protein covering for each cell).
